This does not need to be for it to charge. While charging it will light up. Once charged the light will turn off. I believe the light is orangish when charging. Hope this helps

Orange light means charging, and green light means it's got over 30min of charge. Note that when the battery is very low (red light and beeping), a full charge can take up to 3h.
