• No, I don't think it is for stand alone DVD players. This is for a multimedia PC or PC in general.

• I believe as long as your device has a USB connection and the device has the simple programming to accept it. I use it on my cable box Samsung smart TV and my fire cube along with my comp media center of course not a single prob
