It's Bluetooth. The iPad doesn't power the keyboard; it runs on its own and has a rechargeable battery.

You enter that code as directed, press “enter”(?) and... Bluetooth! Your iPad does not power this case. There is a power dock that utilizes your iPad’s cord. It runs on its own power.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The keyboard is Bluetooth. It has its own battery and is charged by a USB-C cable, the same as the iPad. It needs to be connected in the Bluetooth settings of your iPad. After that when you open the case and the iPad is in locked in place by the magnet on the keyboard, it will automatically connect from now on. It’s not really designed to be taken off and put back on like the Apple keyboard. It is a snug fit and protects the iPad very well.
