Yes. I use these exclusively with my 2011-era MBA either open or in clamshell mode with an external monitor. They simply plug into the headphone jack. They require external power (a standard 110 volt plug), so don't consider them if you're looking for something portable. I keep them on my desk at home and am very satisfied.
