  • QuestionThe specs state a minimum operating temperature of 60 degrees. Does this mean the camera's won't work in temps below 60? I find this hard to believe since half the country will experience temperatures below 60 half the year

    Asked by Jeff.

    • Answer I am going to answer your question from experience. Now it is 64 degrees outside, so at this time it is not any help. However, I was out of town, and accessed the cameras from a far remote location, with the temperature, at the camera location of 50 degrees. The cameras all continued to function. Prior I had Lorex Surveillance Cameras, and they continued to function properly at temperatures as low as 35 degrees, for at least 5 years, without failure. The system I have now, which you are asking about, is far inferior to the prior surveillance cameras I had, in reference to the quality of the software, and the quality of the video. The prior system was full High Definition, yet this system is supposed to be much higher definition. It is NOT. I would not have the system, if I would have had the correct return time. I had another 2 weeks to return it. Unfortunately I overlooked the return time. The system is not at all as advertised. It is much easier to set up, but the quality is not at all as advertised. I cannot say yet as to the functioning of the cameras with this system, with the outside temperature in the lows at 40 degrees or lower. I have not had it long enough, to know. This coming Thursday, the temperature is forcast at 40 degrees. I will send another reply to your question the day after. If the temperature goes as low as 40 degrees and still functioning I will attempt to answer your question again. I do not know if I can answer twice. I will try however. For me, you will be very disappointed both in the software , and the quality of the video. Personally my recommendation is for you to take it back to Best Buy, for a refund, if you still have the time. My Daughter has a Samsung Surveillance system, and it functions with quality video, and never has a problem in cold weather, much lower than 60 Degrees. For me, I wish very much I would have purchased Samsung. I cannot say if all Samsung Surveillance Systems are very good, however my Daughter's is very good with high quality video. Worth a try. Look for my answer after this coming Thursday if I can reply to you, I will.

  • QuestionThese cameras are suppose to be color night vision correct? Daytime of course is great but at night It looks to be black and white to me. Is there a way to change it over to color or do we have an issue with the camera's?

    Asked by Cheryl.

    • Answer Lorex color at night is false advertising. There is not an adjustment built into the Lorex Flir software for colors to appear as advertised. The only way to get color is to provide additional lighting, such as an outside flood light. Then you will see color. This fact is absurd, and, definitely NOT as advertised. Even worse, if the infrared from the cameras reflect off a white building surface, the camera being used shuts down. Again, the only solution is to add additional lighting. And at night and certain times during the day, depending upon the lighting situation, there are significant problems with there not being enough or to much light. Prior models had numerous adjustmenst built into the software. The adjustments have been removed. The prior adjustment were very easily accessed and were permanent until changed. There are other technical problems. I will not go into them, being your question pertains to color. It is not just color problems, but much more extensive is the reason I added information in addition to your color question. This NVR is a very stripped down version of the prior Lorex NVR surveillance system. My recommendation, if you still have time left is definitely return the Lorex Surveillance system to Best Buy. Very unfortunately my time to return is past. However I definitely will not buy Lorex anything again. Hope getting assistance from Lorex Tech Support in finding a person that know what they are doing is just about zero. I hope this helps. I wish I would have known, before I purchased Lorex. However, never ever again. As a final note, a bad review you may find, is not exaggerated.

  • QuestionCan you purchase and add 4K Cameras to this system?

    Asked by Doug.

    • Answer Yes. The system comes with 2K (4MP) cameras and the NVR is 4K ready. Cameras can be PoE tethered to the NVR, (or) wireless or wired cameras into your local router up to the maximum number accepted by the NVR you choose (8,16,32).

  • QuestionCan the recording capacity of the NVR be increased?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The 8-channel NVR only accommodates a single HDD up to 6TB. You can quite easily replace the 2TB HDD with a single 4TB or 6TB HDD. The 16-channel and 32-channel NVR's accept a second HDD up to 6TB each for a total of 12TB per NVR. It is important to be discerning when choosing a hard drive and only a surveillance hard drive such as the Seagate SkyHawk 6TB Surveillance Hard Drive should be used. These hard drives are specifically designed for the continuous multi-channel recording and the concurrent recording/playback that is inherent with surveillance systems.

  • QuestionAm I reading that right that minimum operating temperature is 60F? These cameras can not be used in the Northeast then?

    Asked by CabinFever.

    • Answer From the Lorex website: https://www.lorextechnology.com/4k-ip-camera-system/4k-ultra-hd-ip-8-channel-nvr-security-camera-kit/LNK710-8ch-Series-1-p?skuId=sku1670020 Don't fear the elements. All of your LNK343B security cameras are rated IP66. This means that they are fully weatherproof and can endure virtually whatever mother nature throws at them. They will even continue to operate in freezing temperatures as low as -22°F / -30°C. Their rugged housings and vandal-resistant designs add even further protection for safe outdoor application.

  • QuestionWhere can I buy more of these cameras?

    Asked by Rayson.

    • Answer Wait for them to go on sale and purchase another bundle of four with the NVR and just save the NVR as a backup. It will cost you more to buy them separately unless you only want one or two more. They are expensive when you purchase them alone. That's what I did and I ended up finding use for three of the four and I'm saving the fourth in case something goes wrong with one of my other seven. So far I love these cameras.
