“The device records programs but when I try to play them back the “USB Device Is Removed” the message says. Is this a feature or a bug? How can this be fixed. I have had the item for about a week.”

You need to have a USB flash drive in the front USB slot to record and playback. Something like a 32 gb SanDisk Cruzer Glide. If you already have a usb flash drive in the usb slot and are getting this message then the usb flash drive is defective or the converter box is defective. Try a new usb flash drive and see what happens. I would not recommend connecting an external hard drive to this converter box due to the potential harm the converter box could do to the hard drive.
