Yes, leave it on standby. Make sure the power button on the unit is on. Then use the remote to put it standby with the red power button. The show that you have set up to record will start the unit at the appropriate time and put the unit back in to standby when the show is over.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe the answer to that is yes, standby is basically off for the machine. If you turn it off, it's off. So yes if you're using it as a DVR leave it on standby otherwise I don't believe it'll work.
