When you use the optical connection, that is independent of your TV speakers. The feed to your headsets will continue no matter what you do with the speaker output of your TV, such as raise or lower volume, or mute the sound. The optical connection is also the fastest one. I use optical for all those benefits, which you don't get if you use the RCA or Aux wired connections.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Both speakers and headphones should work. You should be able to mute the speakers when you are using the headphones. There should also be a setting on the tv to permanently have sound come from one or the other.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.cuts off all external sound from units speakers. re-connects automatically
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When I first used the device it supplemented the TV sound; once I muted the TV sound it work strictly thru my BT headphones. I connected it using the audio 3.5mm plug; I think it would respond the same way with an optical connection or even the old red/white RCA connection. The device comes with multiple connectors.
