• Yes a FB account is required for initial setup and it uses that to connect you with friends and other online services on the oculus

• HI there! If you are new to Meta, or using Meta Quest 2, a Facebook account is required to use your device, apps and the Oculus store. If you don’t already have a Facebook account, you can create one using the Oculus app. Currently, Meta Quest 2 requires everyone to use a Facebook account to log in. Thank you for reaching out!
