“I've never used a wireless keyboard before (only wired). I work from home. If my wireless service goes out will the keyboard stop working? Or, is the wireless feature of the keyboard not actually connected to my wifi. Thanks”

It is not connected to your wifi. The term wireless in this case refers to the keyboard and mouse cables (wires). The keyboard and mouse use batteries and don't have cables, they communicate with your computer using a USB receiver.
