Not sure what previous model chargers/cord had. This one is magnetic, no damage to port if you kick it by mistake, 65W, and has a USB-A charging port on one of the charger sides. That USB charging port helps since the Surface Laptop 4 only has "1" USB-A and "1" USB-C plus the magnetic charging port.
