You get to play online with other people plus get discounts and free games to download each month.

Gives you access to online multiplayer activities within the games you have plus each month gold members can get games for free download that rotate each month for members to choose if they want or not.

It allows you to play online multiplayer games with other people over the internet. It also allows you to download a couple free games every month. The games available for download are chosen by Microsoft and change every month or twice per month. If you download the free games, you can play them as long as you continue to have an active gold membership and have your Xbox connected to the internet. (So when they change which game is available for free download, you can still play the other ones you've already downloaded.)
