• Yes the adaptor connects to your console not the controller.

• Hope this helps... On your PC, (press the RIGHT click on your mouse) of the Start button (bottom right corner in Windows 10) , then select Settings, window opens then > Select Devices. Choose Add Bluetooth or other device Then select Everything else. Choose Xbox Wireless Controller or Xbox Elite Wireless Controller from the list. When connected, the Xbox button on the controller will stay lit.
