Heather, Forgot to add an answer to your second question. Yes, the site says it is "tripod/monopod mountable." Jimmy

If the camcorder can connect by Wifi to your iphone, it may be possible to transfer that route. Since the camcorder has HDMI and USB ports, you should be able to transfer that way as well. However, perhaps the simplest way to transfer between devices, like with any SD card compatible device, is simply remove the internal SD card with the recorded image/video, and install the SD card in the other device (laptop, phone) for download. I don't think any Apple iphones so far take external Micro SD cards, which is one reason I don't have one. Many Android phones do take Micro SD cards for extra or removable backup storage. But you should be able to transfer to your Apple iphone one of the other ways--Wifi, HDMI, USB. I assume this camcorder takes a Micro SD. But whether Micro or full size SD, it will still input into your laptop--if it has a SD card port. I'm just a regular customer, not a tech wiz. But this is what I've noticed and worked with myself. Hope this helps, Jimmy
