The watch works fine without the phone but only as a watch. The notifications and information are pushed to the watch from the phone. It DOESN'T have built in GPS so you will not be able to use it for runs or biking without the phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Proximity is not always necessary. The watch actually has 4GB of storage space on it so it will definitely be able to fit that much fitness data. Any data the watch has stored with sync with Moto Fitness or Google Fit once it is all reconnected. You can even download music to your watch and connect Bluetooth headphones directly to the watch to listen to music with Google Play Music!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The watch and the phone do need to be near each other in order to communicate.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The watch needs to have either a connection to the phone or to a wifi network to give GPS data, since it is not a connected device like the Samsung Gear S. If you were to leave the phone at home and go riding it would not give the GPS part of what you need. However, it would store the heart rate. The watch will automatically sync to the phone as you come in close enough proximity to it. There is no need to repair it or anything like that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you have to be in range of your cell phone at all times as it syncs via Bluetooth.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your phone is on you can now connect your watch to a wifi network and receive notifactions
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Only needed if you're looking for constant updates. it still works as a watch but no texts or other phone related stuff will work It will count steps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As the device does mot have a dedicated gps module and retrieves and syncs data over bluetooth, that would not work
