Yes you can use it to make calls. It uses Google Now so any commands you can use on the phone you can use on the watch. Of course there is no speaker so it simply connects the call on the phone not the watch itself.

no, you can only swipe answer or reject call on the watch. But you will need to use the phone to actually have the conversation. If you have a headset you shouldn't have to pick up the phone.
