If you have a thunderbolt type c port on the laptop it will out put 144hz. So you would need a type c cable the will have a display play end on the other side. Or if the laptop has a mini display port you would need a mini displayport cable with a regular display port end on the other side to get 144hz. Note if your laptop does not support 144hz on your screen or graphics card it will not out put 144hz also the monitor must be able to do a 144hz if not hdmi will do 60 to 120hz but only max 120hz with the newer hdmi. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I get 60hz refresh rate while using an older version (ver 1 ) HDMI cable between my OPTIX monitor and my (Radeon RX 570) graphics adapter. While using a DisplayPort cable I get 144hz refresh rate. Speed through your HDMI May vary based on HDMI version. However, your adaptor May influence refresh rate as well. The only way you will know for sure is try it. I find that adapters suggest speeds of no more than 60Hz.
