Both SODIMM slots are usable and it has a single 8GB stick in there (ew, single-channel). an 8GB stick of Crucial 8GB is around fifty bucks from Amazon, and should run around the same at Best Buy. You'll definitely notice the difference - not only will you be running a full 16GB of RAM, but you'll be running in dual-channel - which means more memory bandwidth!
