Nest Wifi is not really compatible with 3rd party routers and modem/router combos. It might cause a Double NAT where both Nest Wifi and your combo broadcast their own private networks which can cause connectivity issues. You can still use use your existing router by putting it in Bridge mode or disable its Wi-Fi functionality to avoid connection issues. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nest WiFi replaces your current router. Your home WiFi Internet access is delivered by two pieces of technology: a modem, which sends and receives data through your internet service provider (ISP), and a WiFi router, which broadcasts a data signal around your home. Depending on your setup, you may have two separate pieces of equipment (a modem and a router) or both technologies could be built into the same piece of equipment (combo modem and router). Your modem needs to be configured with your ISP. The WiFi system works in conjunction with the modem. So, you should be able to change your WiFi router with your existing modem without any coordination with your ISP.
