• It could be, if this modem is supported by your Internet Service Provider. There is one ethernet jack on this, it would go directly to your computer, or to a router if you needed to hook up more than one device at a time.

• Yes, this would be a good option. This does not have a built router, so would not provide any wi-fi signal if connected like you stated. Couldn’t be happier with mine.
