My previous TWC bill went from $120 to over $160 month. Time for some changes, replaced TWC cable modem with the NETGEAR - CM600, saving $10 month. With 24 downstream and 8 upstream channels, I have no problems with higher internet speeds. The status LED aren't too bright in a dark room and bright enough during the day to be easily seen. The case is a little warm but no hot spots, expecting it to run a long time.... Setup, when I returned my TWC cable modem I had my NetGear IP address and the TWC representative added to my account information, so all needed to do was to connect the new modem and I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. Should have done that a year ago.

This is my second cable modem and it is so improved over the first one I purchased in 2011. I love its slim profile so it takes up less space on your desk. The easy set-up is the most improved feature, to me. Of course it works very well and I love the LED light strip being mounted on the face. All in all, an excellent product.

This is a wonderful replacement modem if you have Xfinity. I replace the Xfinity modem that I rented with this device after a lightning storm came through and fried this one. I use surge protectors but the coaxial in the Xfinity modem had burn marks where it connects so I assumed it was through the coaxial.

The Netgear CM600 cable modem is an ultimately reliable DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem for service speeds up to 300 Mb/sec or faster. Unlike the company’s CM700 model, it does not incorporate the troublesome Intel Puma 6 chipset found in many higher-end cable midems, making it a more reliable choice. There may be a downside for some, having little to do with the CM600. When accessing the CM600 interface, it is noted that ALL firmware upgrades can only be provided by the ISP (in my case, Spectrum). Whether Spectrum will upgrade said firmware (when and if necessary) is questionable, though it would be to their advantage. It has also been explained that Spectrum cannot remotely troubleshoot issues in “non-standard,” cable modem/routers. These being anything other than the standard free cable modem/routers Spectrum installs as part of their service. They can, however, initiate a reboot and validate that the CM600 is functioning. Funny, this seems more like a positive for me! As a trained network support technician, I like the idea that Spectrum cannot manipulate the settings of either my modem or router; something I am more than capable of doing on my own. Setting up the Netgear CM600 cable modem is as easy to setup as plugging it in and turning it on. The CM600 was fully functional within seconds of connecting the Internet cable to the back. The CM600 is a one-trick pony; it is a cable modem and nothing else. It converts cable data into Internet data. Given the specifications and the high-quality components it does its particularly job incredibly well. The CM600 is built to pull a signal out of a weak or “noisy” line. It will continue to provide Internet service when other lesser modems will drop out. Since purchasing this modem, I have had no random cable dropouts from my ISP. Remember, it has no built-in wireless or wired router. Such a router must be purchased separately. A quick aside: The router is the Grand Central Station of your home’s WiFi universe. It takes a tremendous amount of efficient but fast processing power to send and receive multiple data streams quickly and effectively between a houseful of smartphones, smart HDTVs, computers, tablets, cameras and other WiFi-enabled gizmos and the Internet. A router is a radio transceiver. The more powerful it is, the more information it can send through the air over longer distances. The more sensitive it is, the more it can pick up data being transmitted 500+ feet away. To get the best benefit from your Netgear CM600, I recommend the Netgear Nighthawk® R7000P. Built to handle the needs of the tech enabled home, it is a stellar dual-processor performer at an incredible price. No. I don’t work at Netgear!

Bought this modem to save on the monthly rental fee of a subpar unit from my ISP. After 6 years and numerous speed upgrades, it’s still going strong. There have been a handful of “glitches” but not sure if that’s the unit or the cable company. Overall, it’s a great alternative to the rented unit. I have noticed it has begun slowing down, but the company has upgraded me to 1000Mbps(1GIG) and I can’t remember what it was rated for.

Bought to Alleviate PUMA 6 Problems

If you are a gamer, heavy file transfer, or just have a house full of people streaming things on all their devices, then this cable modem MAY solve a problem for you, like it did for me. The Spectrum supplied modem was an ARRIS TM1602A which suffers from the Intel Puma 6 problem. This mostly shows up as lag when gaming online, stutters or drops in video quality, or otherwise stressing your bandwidth capabilities on home internet. I finally found out about this vulnerability and ran a test (search Puma 6 test) and had very poor results on the test matching up with complaints I've heard from the gamers and heavy streamers in the house about lag spikes, movies dropping down to lower resolution intermittently, slow transfers, etc. I did some research and found that this modem was approved for use on Spectrum and that it uses a broadcom chipset, so doesn't suffer from the Puma 6 problem. I bought it, unhooked the old modem, hooked this one up, waited for the internet light to be solid, called up Spectrum agent, had this one activated and rebooted, then hooked the router back up to it and powered on the router. Let it stabilize for an hour, then reran the puma 6 test. Test came out way better almost all green, instead of mostly red. If you aren't trying to solve the Puma 6 problem, then know that this modem is DOCSIS 3.0 and will probably work for you just fine till you/cable provider moves to 1 Gbps service where you will need a DOCSIS 3.1 modem anyways. For some of us, this might still be multiple years away. There usually isn't a lot of need for buying a Cable Modem with Spectrum because they don't charge a monthly rental fee for them, but this fixed a problem for me and it is a very robust cable modem for mid-tier speeds.

I upgraded my Comcast service and wanted to replace my aging modem with a new model. I wanted enough overhead in the form of excess channels that it would not only work well with my new level of service but also last into whatever my next level of service might be. I think this modem does that. It isn't the very maximum but it's very strong upper middle of the product range. The price was fair and BB matched an online price. The unit performs perfectly and runs cool. In the couple of months that I've had it there hasn't been a single issue... 24/7. I recommend it.

I finally wanted to ditch the cable company's modem and its rental fees. After much research on which modem with the best capabilities to buy, I pick an Arris Surfboard that was a 3.1 generation. But after checking with my cable company of which modems were fully vetted and approved, which ones were approved but not fully vetted to work without hiccups, none of the 3.1 generation modems were on the list. My cable provider is Spectrum, of Central FL. (formerly BHN). So I looked at the next step down, the next generation down, the 3.0's. Here lied the problem with this choice, Intel supplied the chipset for most, if not all the various companies that sell Modems. Netgear, Arris, Linksys and Cisco are some of the companies involved. Intels Puma 6 Chipset is severely flawed and has modems simply dropping connections. There are numerous horror stories and there is a Class Action Lawsuit going on too. Do yourself a favor and look up this issue before you buy a 3.0 Modem. Google, "List of Puma 6 Chipset", and look over a few different lists. Some are more extensive than others. I am talking about 24x8 and 32x8 downstream/upstream capable modems. Who knows, you may have one on the list in your home right now while you’re reading this. Nonetheless, so I settled for the Modem which is a 960 Mbps, does not have a Puma 6 chipset and is on my providers approved modems list. I just don't want to have to buy a 3.1 generation, see if it will work or not, or work and be buggy. Then have to return it and get a new one. Hence settling for this approved one. Good luck and have a nice day.

    Arris

I'm a 'bring your own' modem Comcast customer. Have been for over 10 years. I wanted to upgrade my router to ensure the best possible channel bonding count. The last two iterations of Arris (Xfinity approved) routers have been problematic, demonstrating inconsistent speed performance and goofy ipV6 connectivity. So I rolled the dice and opted for this Netgear modem to see if it was up-to-snuff. It looks like Netgear has a leg up on Arris now because this modem setup easily, queries more easily and is faster to respond to those queries and I've had no issues whatsoever since purchasing it. Speeds have been solid and at advertised levels. IPv6 connectivity has been solid. I also like the fact that this modem has very subtle lighting on the front. Arris models of the past several years are unnecessarily bright as heck with their status LEDs. There's no way to turn them off and quite honestly, it's really makes no sense to have such bright lights on a modem. This Netgear has lights that soft & low and they don't illuminate the whole freaking room ... I highly recommend this router if your Arris brand is older and/or your connectivity is inconsistent. Netgear nailed it on this configuration and the price is right.

As the title states, I’m a gamer and I absolutely love this product. It was recommended to me by a friend when my old modem crapped itself and I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the product. The internet speed on average went up about 20-30 mb/s giving me the actual advertised speed of 150-200 from my isp. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable decently powered modem.

Bought this to replace an Arris SB6141 modem that seemed to be dying - The status page only showed 7 downstream channels working and our service would randomly drop from 50 mB/s to <1 mB/s and we would have to reboot the modem to fix it. Installation of this modem was easy, had to call TWC to activate but this was relatively painless. Have been using the Netgear CM600 for about two weeks now and so far the random slowdowns have not recurred. Our service speed improved slightly, from 50 to about 58 mB/s and the status page shows 16 downstream channels working. This modem actually can support 24 channels, but I guess TWC does not have that many in our neighborhood yet. We are also getting 8 upstream channels. This modem also seems to run fairly cool, noticeably cooler than the Arris did. This modem is, however, almost twice as large as the Arris (in height). Two things I really like about the CM600: (1) The status lights are not too bright. We found the lights on the Arris modem obnoxiously bright, I can't express how overly bright they were. You literally could not sleep in the same room with an Arris modem. (2) The CM600 has an actual on-off button on the back. So far, we have not had to reboot it, but it we need to it will be a lot easier than plugging/unplugging.

My daughter moved to a new apartment in the Walnut Creek area and subscribed to Comcast Xfinity internet. I chose this modem fpr her because it does not use the Intel Puma 6 chipset with it's problems. Paired the Netgear modem with 3 Plume WiFi pods in her 2 bedroom apartment and she gets great WiFi coverage and speeds. The cable modem was extremely easy to install and did not require a phone call to Comcast. It recognized the modem and registered it online. She is getting 177 Mbps download speeds on a 150 Mbps plan. Very happy with this purchase.

I was looking to replace my DOCSIS 3.0 ARRIS Surfboard 6183 which would often heat up like crazy and for whatever reason had drop out issues. I moved to the this Netgear modem which was super easy to setup and worked immediately out of the box. I'm now pushing about 15% more than the advertised ISP bandwidth rating on the connection and most of all the thing doesnt heat up to fry an egg on it. Pretty inexpensive solution to push 400+ Mbit/s on Spectrum cable.

I changed from ATT-UVerse to Comcast a few months ago. Already had the NetGear Router (other review submitted), so I knew they should work well together. On-line reviews were good as well. Best Buy will match Amazon Prime prices so I would have been crazy to not buy it local. Setup was again super simple. Awesome results with Comcast high speed internet. Just ran test in Keeping Room (most remote location to the modem/router) with 130/24 Mbps download/upload results. Still Crazy After All These Years--NOT.

I got rid of my telephone service and needed to replace the cable modem provided by my service provider. Wanted to get a good compatible cable modem and have not been disappointed. Great speed. The couple of times I checked, I was getting 20+ MBps download speed with it. Was having issues with loosing connection with the providers cable modem and since installing this modem, I have had no issues. Have 13+ devices connected to my network and have had no speed issues on any of the devices.
