“I have a modem from Comcast for my internet. I have an Epsom printer. Since Comcast changed our modems, my printer works off and on. Have called Concast and Epsom numerous times. No problems before this new modem. Will this Netgear solve my problem?”

No, because your printer does not connect to the modem. If you have a network capable printer, you'll need to look into a router.

I don't have Comcast, I had it in Nor Cal but it's not in my area in So Cal so I can't speak to the comparability but I'd say it's a pretty safe bet. Call Comcast and ask them. Renting is a waste of money.
