“I just bought a Google Mesh Wifi System as suggested by my Spectrum service technician. Problem is I have no spare ethernet ports to plug it in to. Will this box work for that? If so do I plug the box into the modem and then the mesh system into the box?”

Run an ethernet from the modem to the netgear box, then you have 5 open ports.
