• This will not work for a public access point unless you have administrative access.

• It is just and extender nor an amplifier. It just extends what it receives. Hook it up in a strong receiving area and it will do a great job to extend that signal. I have used it to extend the signal to my garage and at work to extend a Wifi signal from the back office into a front showroom. Worked great in both cases. Read the instructions and you should be happy with the outcome.
