They say to place the booster halfway between the modem and the device you are using. I used a trial and error method to find the best spot. My modem is connected to cable, and I have 3 cable outlets. I found the cable outlet that gave me the best signal, because some work better than others. Then I found the best spot for the booster. But I did end up buying another booster, one twice as expensive as the other, and they are both nest, so they combine into a seamless network.
