Pretty sure you need an extender so no it wouldn't work

If you are looking at a straight wireless extender, look at Linksys RE6350 AC1200 Dual-Band WiFi Extender and you can configure it as an extender and then plug in a single device to it or if you have multiple devices, you can connect a 5-port, 8-port, etc. gigabit switch to the Linksys RE6350 AC1200 Dual-Band WiFi Extender and then plug all of your devices into it. Make sure there is good wireless signal upstairs and this works perfect.
