in tandem. it connects wirelessly to the xfinity. Then it broadcasts/extends the SSID for your xfinity. Your devices connect to the wifi on the extender using the same SSID as you would otherwise use to connect to your xfinity. Works great. Seamless.

Please try again later.Lars, This device works amplifying and extending your existing wifi network, specifically if you have black spots due to long distances or interferences. You still need a modem-router, from xfinity or you can buy one here at bestbuy and will save money because you should be paying around $10 per month renting right?. You can buy one for around $120, next year you won’t be paying for your router.
