From my understanding with Netgear support. Each ethernet port can have its own IP. You have to pay for each IP address from your internet provider. So having this modem for the average home is not a good option.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have this modem and have tried to get more than 1 port working at a time but have not been able to. Call support and they are close to worthless. Spent an hour on the line with an agent that could speak English but it is his second language and he had serious trouble understanding the technical problem. Kept repeating so it works. Kept telling him why have 4 ports on the back if only one works, kept saying so it works. I left it at that.

Please try again later.I'm not sure you can only use one ethernet port at time on this device but why you would want to this a powerful device Capable of handling Multi gig speeds you shouldn't have any problems lagging while gaming with this device but you have to see what your isp offer's like if they speeds can go up to 1 gig are more. Remember this device can handle the speeds.
