How is your signal strength? It could be that you are too far away from your router. Even though this Wifi adapter is a 'Nighthawk' brand, that doesnt mean its 10x better than the internal wifi antenna in your computer. It all depends on the brand of PC and motherboard as well as the age of your laptop. Some cheaper laptops have an internal antenna thats just as good as this Nighthawk, while others (older/cheaper) can only handle 25-50mbps and have terrible connection quality. If signal strength is an issue, then you could use a very long USB cable adapter and put the Nighthawk wifi antenna at the end of the hallway or out the door or something like that. If strength isnt the problem, it could be that the internal wifi connection is fighting with the nighthawk and each one is trying to connect to the signal after the other is shutdown. This keeps happening and each time the wifi switches, it causes a drop in your connection. If not, I would try the best buy tech support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Get a different product. That's what we had to do. This product worked fine for 20 days. Then, it got hot and died. We took it back to Best Buy only to be told that they only replace or return items for 15 days. (15 days!) The employee gave me the phone number to the company, NETGEAR and sent me on my way. I call the company and after a long time on hold, I get a person. She tells me to uninstall and reinstall the product and to call back. I do that, it doesn't help, and I call back. I get a more helpful person who finally sends me a link to get a replacement. I have to pay to mail it back but the company does promptly send me a replacement. This second one doesn't work but in a different way. I spend another hour on the phone with the company. They want me to send the second item back for a replacement. I have to pay for mailing back. I give up. We've thrown away enough money and time on this faulty item. We bought a replacement at a different store that has a better return policy. It's working great.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I suggest you look at updating your usb drivers as this is more than likely the cause of the disconnects.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Ask Best Buy Tech., they will know.... Sounds as though you may have an interruption from your power source. Cat biting wires, etc. Check connections for proper hook ups or cracks in wiring. I learned that it is important to be within the range of whatever device you purchase. They have different range distances....Another thought is your interruptions could be from other interferences Microwave, etc. :)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’ve used the AC1900 with tremendous success and have not experienced any disconnections. Given the internal adapter previously gave you trouble, and now the external adapter has given you trouble, I would explore whether or not the other end (wireless router) might be the source of the problem. I assume you already have relocated your computer closer to the router to try and establish a better connection with no change. Consider whether there are other electronic device, wireless and wired, in close proximity that might be the source of interference.
