These ports are used with the connection that is supplied to you by your internet service provider (ISP). The router is highly configurable depending on what your ISP provides you, up to 2.5gig speeds. Once you connect the router to your internet connection to, you would then connect devices to the local-area network (LAN) that the router is responsible for. This can be either an ethernet connection directly to the router, or a wireless connection to the Wi-Fi network the router broadcasts. Both connections would connect to the same LAN. You can set up a guest network, which would create a separate LAN where your guests can get access to the internet, but remain separated from your private devices because they are on different LANs. "Wi-Fi as WAN" isn't something I'm familiar with, but my best guess is you want to know if the wired and wireless devices will be on the same network? If so, the answer is yes as described above.
