I just purchase a Net Gear CM 1000 3.1 and would like to replace my 10 year old router. Can you suggest a comparable router ? null

I have used a Deco m5 and m9plus (These are wifi routers by Tp-link). I have also used a netgear Orbi. And I have used a TP-Link Safe-stream (TL-R600VPN) router. 

All of these routers have worked fine. No issues with the Cable modem. You may have to restart the cable modem after connecting the router. But otherwise no concerns.

The benefit of the Deco routers is that you can expand them just by buying a new router, all the Deco family of routers work as satellites and routers. They have most of the same features as the other Wifi routers. 

The Orbi has to use a specific satellite and the router can not replace a satellite. But they sell kits with multiple satellites and it is fast with its three band system.

The TL-R600VPN is a non-wifi router. This could allow you to connect your wired machines before the wifi router or connect to multiple Wans - Cable, Office, and home. 

It just depends on what you need.
