This is a cable modem. Its input needs to be a coax cable that has the signal from some cable based internet provider. The output ethernet cable goes to your router that provides the wifi to your location.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You have to have an isp such as comcast, charter, etc for this or any other modem to work. That said, it is an excellent modem and can handle speeds of up to 1 gig.

The modem then connects directly to your devices (computer, gaming counsel, etc) via Ethernet cables OR you connect the modem to a wireless router.
