“Does a telephone service have to be accessible to this modem, or can I just use the modem/router only for internet service. I'm asking since ultimately my intent is to eliminate my home land line, and only obtain the internet service from Comcast.”

That’s exactly what we did! We don’t have a phone line attached to it, but our package needed that to be an option on the router we installed
