It connects to your wireless network and retransmits the signal to extend the range. It is compatible with most any wireless router or access point. That being said, this MAY be over kill. This unit supports the AC protocol - with can be faster than the "n" protocol. I don't know if the r6250 does.

It was brought to my attention that out of the box and just using the eps function it only transfers data at 2.4 ghz this information was recuevedfrim a fiber optic technician / low voltage JW . You may want to try it at a faster data transfer rate hope this may help
