I don't think the router is a question of compatibility because the wifi extender simply extends (distance) the wifi signal transmission, which improves the quality, and therefore the strength, of the wifi signal. That being said, if you have an inadequate router or modem with a weak signal or slow speed, this wifi extender will not compensate for those deficiencies.
