Yes you can do that, but it may be better if you move the NETGEAR to a more central location, or at least run an ethernet connection (long patch cord) to where you plan to have your Airport Extreme. If the structure of your apartment interferes with the signal, and you can't run ethernet to your bedroom, then consider something like a Power-to-Ethernet Bridge: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/networking-accessories/powerline/pcmcat161100050043.c?id=pcmcat161100050043
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you're in an apartment you might not need the airport as a repeater, I live in a 1400 sq ft house with the router in the basement and I run netfilx on the TV on the second floor with no issues. The range on this with the antennas up is really good. 30 feet is no issue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not feel the need for an extender. I have a 2 story 2600 sqft house on 3/4 of an acre and I get 1 bar of wifi at the back of my lot with this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you use the 2.5gHz band you may not need the secondary router as an extender. I use this to connect 30-40 feet away at the grill and listening to music
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Being your Airport Extreme is pretty old, I would have to say you may run into some connection/speed issues trying to use it as a extender for this router. as the Airport really is not a typical extender just another fancy name for a router from Apple supposedly to make your WiFi connections better on Apple products. being a older unit it would not offer you the combined signal strength that your new Net-gear does. You do not need A Apple router for apple products since WiFi is a worldwide standard. It just gives you better options is all. Your new Night hawk has a setting for making your router be better at streaming Music from Itunes etc. just needs to be turned on in settings, to get better reception upstairs or outside either mover your router? to a better position, or Purchase a decent WiFi Extender that I listed below. There are other options depending on your budget, but since you purchased the Nighthawk I assume you got it for the speed etc. these 2 listed items should compliment your new Nighthawk router very well and ease of installation. 17 year I.T. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can, but would be best if connected via Ethernet cable. It would be much better to find a compatible netgear extender which will likely plug into any wall socket you like once the initial setup is completed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you should be ok with this unit. It works well for me I use my lap top out in my car in my driveway. My drive way it way over 30 feet.
