You have the option of either replacing your Comcast provided router (i.e. turning off the WiFi signal on your current device if it's a combo unit) and using strictly the Orbi's signal, or running the Orbi alongside your current router in Access Point mode.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use it as a router. My modem and router comes in through my attic. It can provide wifi to about 2500 square feet. So, I use it as my upstairs wifi source, took a LAN drop from there to downstairs, and added this router and an extender to cover the whole bottom floor, garage and patio. I am very satisfied with it, so far. I've only had it up for about 3 weeks, but so far, so good.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have Comcast. The Modem/Router combination which I had been renting from them for $10 per month was returned when I bought a $50 Modem from Best Buy. They have no problem with you using your own modem. Your Best Buy sales rep can point you in the right direction for a modem. You save the $10 per month rental fee! Then you simply connect the new modem to the Orbi wi-fi router with your Cat-5 cable, find a home in the best room for the satellite, and I promise you that your wi-fi signal problems are gone for good! Enjoy!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It replaces your router but not your modem so if you have a modem/router in one simply connect your Orbi to the existing Comcast router and use it that way, otherwise return the modem/router for just a modem and just use the Orbi.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You plug the ORBI into your existing Router. You can have both Wireless systems running side by side, I turned my Cable-Company supplied router wireless off, but used the ethernet passthrough to my ORBI. It was easy and the ORBI is amazingly fast!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Orbi connects thru your comcast router

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Orbi goes thru your router
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi system replaces an existing router, and provides extended range coverage compared to a traditional, single-point router. My previous router was my own Netgear product, and NOT provided by my ISP (which is Optimum), so I can't say if there would be any issues with replacing an ISP-provided router. I can say that the Orbi system is very likely far superior, depending on the capabilities that Comcast provided in their router. Hope this helps.
