“I have Directv Genie DVR (HR54). After a software update, the Genie's wireless will not stay connected. Has anyone tried this with a Genie box? I have a Monster surge protector with powerline that I also use for my 4K tv's, will this interfere?”

You cannot plug these ethernet powerline adaptors into a surge protector, they must be plugged directly into the wall outlet.

In fact, I just made the connection and the DirecTV system told me it was connected when I turned around to see the screen. No subsequent difficulty found, and I am using the pieces through a surge protector too.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Directv Genie routinely does not work well with wi-fi. Mine constantly failed to maintain connection. Plugged in the powerline adapters, connected ethernet cable to the DVR box and problems were gone. I believe the adapter needs to be directly connected to the house outlet, not a surge protector.
