Thank you for contacting Newair. The compressor is located at the back of the unit. A clearance of 2 inches is recommended between the back of the unit and the wall and 4 inches of clearance from the side of the unit and the wall for freestanding installation. Lastly, when looking at the unit form the front, the power cord is located on the right bottom corner. Best Regards, Customer Care
