Hi Bart, you will be able to see the rear window video as PIP in your front facing camera. You could use this to see behind you, however, the dash camera will not alert you to objects that might be in the way behind you such as people or other cars. The dash camera is not meant to be a backup camera.

Yep. It records both a forward facing view on the large rectangle shaped unit, and the round golf ball shaped unit is mounted and points out the rear view window. The micro SD card simultaneously records both videos so you have forward and rear facing on the card.
