Each has its pro's and con's B500 uses readily available AA Batteries B600 uses a propriety rechargeable battery that can only be charged in the camera; though there may be an 3rd party external adapter. B500 40x optical zoom B600 80x optical zoom Shutter Speed top continuous at full resolution B500 Up to 7 shots at approx. 7.4 frames per second B600 Up to 7.7 shots at approx. 7 frames per second the B500 has a bit more flexibility in setting the self timer. They are relatively close on most aspects. The B600 is 42 grams lighter than the B500.
