• The SB700 Speedlight is compatible with the D5100. If you wanted to use wireless flash, you would have to use the SB700 as your commander to command additional flash units, wirelessly. If you would only like to use the flash attached to the camera's hotshoe - it is an excellent flash unit. If this is the case, you, in addition, might want to check out the SB500 or the SB300. Both are available at Best Buy and both are compatible with the D5100.
