The flash will work on any Nikon DSLR hotshoe. For plug and play, just set the flash on TTL. I'm pretty sure there are people that have better answers than me. But, that is the short answer.

To use the SB-700 add fresh batteries, slide the SB-700 mounting foot into the Nikon D5600 camera's accessory shoe, turn the Lock lever to "L" and it will be locked into place, ready to use. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There is a standard flash mount on the D5600 which this flash will attach to. The flash has a small toggle switch to turn the flash on. In default mode, when you take a picture, the flash will automatically go off. It also reads the exposure settings from the camera - so nothing to do there. Separately, this flash can also be set to Master mode - this flash SB700 comes with a remote which can be used as the camera remote when taking a picture when set to Master mode.
