There doesn't appear to be any odd coating on it. I read the booklets that came with the Foodi, and the only thing it states is: Ceramic Coated Grill Grate, Ceramic Coated Crisper Basket, and Ceramic Coated Cooking Pot. I hope ceramic coating is safe, because I really enjoy my Foodi, and I hope you can have one too.
