• I think ventilation is good where any oven is concerned. If something burns, for example, you'd want to be able to vent any smoke or fumes. If your basement has windows or some kind of reliable ventilation, it would probably be okay. The oven does get pretty warm, so just make sure it's on a hard, non-flammable surface with lots of air flow around it.

• Should work fine in the basement. Has a built in fan that cools the unit down until it gets cool enough to flip back up. It's a nicely built product
