When grilling you have the option to use the thermometer. It is not required.

The thermometer helps you keep track of the internal temperature of the food so you can cook the meat to that desired temperature. Optionally, when not using the thermometer in the Grill function it will default to using the timer instead.

When you do use the thermometer, the timer will quit and the cooking time goes by the item your cooking (beef, chicken, etc). I’ve only used the thermometer once and I use this machine at least twice a day. I love this application!!!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The internal thermometer is optional. There is a “manual” mode for grilling where you set the cooking time OR you can use the thermometer and set your desired meat temp. Hope this helps answer your question.
