I'm pretty sure it's a marketing trick to increase the value and status and demand of these GPUs. They aren't actually high demand. How many people spend that much money on GPUs? 3 out of 10 people that want an upgrade. Cause these are for enthusiasts, no average gamer would pay more than 500 for a computer part. So the "high demand" is either created by the scalpers, or the factory only makes a few of these little by little to create this problem. They benefit cause their cards become more popular.. So to answer the question, WAY more of these exist in scalper stocks than inside actual computers from gamers. The scalpers use this as a business. It's like the mafia. They go buy every card that exists from anywhere to make sure that people HAVE to get them from them so they can make easy quick money... It's sad
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the Steam hardware survey is any indication, it's way less than 3 in 10 people. Try like 2% at most; and more than likely not more than 1%. Currently, the 3090 is .53% of users and the 3080 is 1.84% of users. Even if we combined both (because we're assuming less people are interested in 4080s) it's only 2.37%. Sure, not everybody uses Steam but the sample size is massive so I'd say the margin of error is very low.
