I have the HTC Vive and had racked up enough BestBuy reward points where the Rift bundle was only $100 so I figured why not. Having both systems, they are key differences. The HTC Vive is really for room scale play. You need a fairly large space to get the full benefit. The Rift works best in standing or seated mode and its sensors are easier to position on a desk if you're going to play a game in a seated position. Quality is about the same which makes sense since both systems are the same resolution. Tracking is about the same for both and so is performance. The Rift headset is lighter, but does not accommodate eyeglasses easily, where the Vive does. The setup procedure for the Vive is easier even though it is a more complex setup. If I were forced to choose one over the other, I would choose the Vive, but the Rift has the better controllers - the Touch controllers are awesome - if HTC did something similar, it would beat the Rift in practically every category. I guess this is a long way of saying that if you plan to play VR in a mostly seated or standing position and mostly facing forward the Rift is fine, but if you want full room scale freedom then the Vive is your best option. As far as disappointment, for me they are both fine provided you spend the time to adjust and configure your system to get the most out of them. With Steam, most of the titles are cross platform.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depends on the game. Different developers are better than others with understanding VR human-computer interaction best practices. Read the reviews of each game before you buy, so you'll know what you're getting into. Steam is a great resource. Reddit, as well, has subreddits for most every top game, also subreddits for each VR hardware maker.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know ANYONE that has been disappointed by the Oculus Rift Bundle.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depends on your expectations and what you play. I think robo recall and Rick and morty are great experience. Only bad experience I have had was with a mod for doom 3.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The oculus is an awesome experience me and my wife love the robo recall!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.ooh i have. I mean nothing's more disappointing then looking at the requirements on the box seeing that your computer is equal to or better then everything listed. get the thing home and be told your system is not up to min spec. And then have the thing run like crap when you try to play it anyway. I'd really like to know how they can say that 1050 is not greater then 970 I wish I knew this when I was building this computer I'd of gone with a different graphics card. So now faced with the choice of either giving up on the rift or sinking in another $500 on graphics card that other people have said is the real minimum, and not seeing any must have experiences in the store I'm very disappointed and till be returning it.
