You don't need a computer with the suggested requirements, but if you are planning to only watch 'movies', you should consider buying the headset only. It comes with just the headset and one sensor (because that's all the headset needs)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you're just into 360 video, Oculus isn't for you. Save yourself hundreds/thousands of $$$, and get a Samsung GearVR (works with iPhone or Android) or Google Daydream (for these phones: Google Pixel and Pixel XL and Moto Z, ASUS ZenFone A). Heck, Google Cardboard is the lowest point of entry (you can usually find one between free and $10). Oculus is not just for gaming, but it's a more immersive 3D interactive experience, completely different from spherical video (which isn't really "VR" but it is lumped in, thus much confusion. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You do not a need a top of the line PC for any VR games or watching anything. All you need is a reasonable CPU like a Ryzen 5 or Core i5 - older i5's are perfectly fine. You do need a GTX 970 or GTX 1060 or better. I'm not sure about the AMD cards, but I think a 470 or 570 or better. The talk about needing a high-end PC is hype. It's mostly the video card. It renders two 1080p images at 90 Hz each. I had a GTX 970, and it was good. I upgraded to a GTX 1070 because I got a fantastic deal. Note, SLI and Crossfire do not work with VR. Your cards will work, but only the primary card.
