“I bought this from BB and I have a mic I use for a my recording. When I plug this into the mic jack all I get out of it when I go back to hear it is nothing but static. The mic works because I switch to my phone, so I know it's not that. Answer for that?”

Why are you using an external mic? The built-=in mic works great for my purposes. If you feel you need higher quality recordings, switch to talk or music modes.
